Eric Olson

Dr. Eric N. Olson chairs the Department of Molecular Biology at UT Southwestern and holds the Robert A. Welch Distinguished Chair. He directs the Hamon Center for Regenerative Science and Medicine and Wellstone Center for Muscular Dystrophy Research.

His pioneering research discovered key transcription factors governing muscle development and disease. Recent breakthroughs include CRISPR-based gene editing strategies for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy that have progressed to clinical translation.

Honors include election to the National Academy of Sciences and mentoring awards recognizing his training of next-generation scientists.
