Eric Hollandsworth is an Adjunct Professor of Music at the University of Lynchburg and Sweet Briar College, specializing in teaching Upright and Electric Bass, Cello, Guitar, Ukulele, and Songwriting. He holds a B.A. from Roanoke College and postgraduate studies in Composition and Arranging from the same institution. His career spans decades of performance across jazz, blues, classical, and theater music, including collaborations with Grammy-winning artists and prominent orchestras like the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra.
Eric’s professional affiliations include roles as principal bassist/cellist in multiple orchestras, co-music director of the Sway Katz Big Band, and membership in groups such as the Eric Hollandsworth Quartet and Flat Five Jazz. He is an endorsing artist for Spector Basses since 2016 and maintains a private teaching studio in Lynchburg-Roanoke. His music appears in the film H.U.M., showcasing his songwriting and compositional skills.
Active in both academic and performance realms, he leads courses in music theory, arranges for ensembles, and regularly performs across Virginia with groups like Long Strange Night and Solar Hearts. His contributions to music education and performance highlight his dual focus on pedagogy and artistic innovation.
