Eric Sung

Eric Sung is a Lecturer at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he teaches cello in the Pre-College and Continuing Education programs. He concurrently serves as Principal Cellist of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and performs with prominent ensembles including the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Sydney Symphony. His extensive performance career spans international festivals and orchestras across four continents.

Education
Eric holds an Advanced Degree from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music, with additional studies at The Juilliard School. His pedagogical lineage includes mentorship under renowned cellists Stephen Geber, Ronald Leonard, Lynn Harrell, and Fred Sherry.

Performance Specialization
Sung specializes in cello pedagogy, orchestral performance, and chamber music. His artistic focus encompasses repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary works, with particular emphasis on collaborative ensemble performance and solo interpretation.

Pedagogical Impact
Eric's students have won top prizes at international competitions including Johansen International, US Open Music Competition, and Junior Bach Festival. Alumni have gained admission to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, NEC, and USC, and participated in elite festivals including Aspen, Music@Menlo, and Heifetz Institute.

Ensemble Leadership
Beyond performing, Eric coaches for the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, KAMSA Youth Orchestra, and Orchestra Institute Napa Valley. His festival engagements include Verbier, Tanglewood, Aspen, and National Repertory Orchestra.
