Eric Anderson

Eric Anderson is a Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), specializing in the history of modern design. He holds a BA from Williams College and a PhD from Columbia University. His research focuses on interiors, design exhibitions, psychological theories in design, and global modernism. He conducted Fulbright-funded research at the Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna for a forthcoming book on decorative experiences in Vienna. Current projects explore design pedagogy and global development discourses linked to the Ulm School of Design's international collaborations.

His academic interests bridge art history, social sciences (anthropology/psychology), and global cultural studies. Publications appear in journals like West 86th, Journal of Design History, and books including Design Dialogue and Making Home.
