Professor Peters' research focuses on the continuum view of psychosis and psychotic experiences in the general population, psychological processes in delusions and hallucinations, and psychological interventions for psychosis. Her work integrates cognitive behavioral therapy approaches with trauma-focused interventions, particularly for individuals experiencing both PTSD and psychosis symptoms. She has pioneered research on compassion-focused therapy for psychosis and digital interventions for paranoia.
Her extensive publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on understanding the psychological mechanisms underlying psychotic experiences and developing evidence-based interventions. Recent work emphasizes trauma-informed approaches, digital therapeutics, and early intervention strategies for youth with first-episode psychosis. Peters has been instrumental in advancing the understanding of how trauma, social factors, and cognitive processes interact in the development and maintenance of psychosis.
- May Davidson Award from British Psychological Society (2003)
