Emma Standley is a Research Fellow (Trial Coordinator) at York Trials Unit, University of York, specializing in child mental health interventions. She holds a BSc and MSc in Psychology and Development from the University of York, where her MSc research developed an academic resilience scale for primary school children. Her career spans roles as a Research Assistant in Psychology Department studying cross-cultural infant development and as a researcher at Child Oriented Mental Health Innovation Collaborative (NHS) focusing on autism and social prescribing.
Research Focus: Emma's work addresses autism, neurodiversity, and mental health in children, with expertise in designing and evaluating school-based interventions (e.g., Social Stories™) and behavioral activation programs for depression. She investigates language development, family wellbeing, and economic evaluations of mental health interventions.
Projects: Current trials include ASSSIST2 (Social Stories™ in schools), BAY (behavioral activation for depression), and ComBAT (community-based behavioral activation training). Previous projects involved science education (TDTS) and early mathematics education (TEEMUP).
Leadership & Collaborations: Emma serves as Deputy Co-Chair of the Contract Researchers Forum and is a member of the PPI Working Group. She actively participates in the COMIC Annual Conference for Child Mental Health Research and collaborates with organizations including the British Psychological Society, Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, National Autistic Society, and The Snappy Trust.
