Professor Emma Macdonald holds the Charles Huang Chair in International Business and directs the Stephen Young Institute for International Business at the University of Strathclyde's Strathclyde Business School. She has held roles at Cranfield School of Management, Warwick Business School, and other institutions. Her research focuses on sustainability, marketing strategy, and customer-centric innovation, with over 20 years of teaching experience in MBA and executive programs.
Education: PhD from UNSW, PG Certificate in Learning & Teaching from Cranfield University, and FHEA (Higher Education Academy). She has led industry collaborations, including the Sustainable Futures Game presented at COP26. Her work spans product/service industries and nonprofit sectors, emphasizing ethical consumer behavior and environmental impact.
Research interests include sustainability-oriented innovation, customer experience management, and stakeholder engagement. Recent articles explore organizational logics in sustainability partnerships and frameworks for sustainable entrepreneurship. Awards include the 2024 British Academy of Management paper award and multiple teaching commendations.
External roles include Vice Chair for Sustainability at the British Academy of Management, Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Research, and judging roles for industry awards. She actively contributes to policy development for sustainable entrepreneurship and COP26-related initiatives.
