Alan Wilson serves as Visiting Professor in the Department of Marketing at Strathclyde Business School, University of Strathclyde. Previously, he held leadership roles including Head of Marketing Department (2007-2010, 2013-2014) and Vice Dean of Strathclyde Business School, while also serving as Visiting Professor at Ecole Hoteliere Lausanne (2010-2019).

His work examines how actual and virtual service interactions shape corporate reputation, service branding, and customer satisfaction, with significant contributions to marketing research methodology through textbooks like Marketing Research: Delivering Customer Insight (4th Edition) and co-authorship of Services Marketing: Integrating Customer Focus Across the Firm (4th European Edition).
His recent publications explore volunteerism in service contexts, particularly senior tour guides and volunteers' role in well-being creation.
