Emily Zuch is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Painting at the University of Connecticut. Her practice involves creating works from elaborate studio setups, focusing on observational techniques. She holds a BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from New York Studio School.
Research & Practice: Zuch’s work bridges studio art and residency-based exploration. She has participated in residencies at Lindfels Westflugel (Germany), Yaddo, Golden Foundation, Jentel Foundation, and others. Her exhibitions span international venues, showcasing both solo and group projects.
Awards:
- Hohenberg Travel Award
- Fulbright Fellowship in Painting and Printmaking (2014, Germany)
Teaching: Prior to UConn, she taught at Skidmore College, Pratt Institute, CUNY-BMCC, and Wagner College. Her pedagogical focus aligns with contemporary studio practices and art education.
Residencies & Collaborations: In 2014, she was an artist-in-residence at Lindfels Westflugel, a contemporary puppet theater in Germany. Her work often integrates interdisciplinary approaches to visual storytelling.
