Emily Solari is the Edmund H. Henderson Professor of Education at the University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development. She directs Virginia Literacy Partnerships (VLP), an initiative promoting evidence-based literacy interventions for children across Virginia. Her research focuses on early reading development, particularly for students at risk of reading difficulties, including those with autism spectrum disorder, English language learners, and dyslexia.
Dr. Solari holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She has led multiple federally funded grants, including NIH's Learning Disabilities Research Center and IES studies on literacy interventions like the Read Well Program. She co-authored the Virginia Literacy Act, a state policy improving literacy outcomes for young learners.
Key initiatives include the Reading and Academic Development Research Group and Virginia Policy Partnership Collaborative. Her work emphasizes translating research into actionable strategies for educators and policymakers to ensure equitable access to high-quality literacy instruction.
