Emily Paddon Rhodes is the Rose Research Fellow in International Relations at the University of Oxford and a European Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow on the 'Individualisation of War' project, with additional status as a visiting scholar at Columbia University. Previously, she served as an associate faculty member at the Blavatnik School of Government and lecturer at Wadham College, both within the University of Oxford.
Her academic background features a B.A. from Brown University and advanced degrees (MPhil and DPhil) in International Relations from St Antony’s College, University of Oxford.
Dr. Paddon Rhodes' research critically examines human rights implications in armed conflict theory and practice, specializing in UN peacekeeping operations, humanitarian interventions, and military actions across sub-Saharan Africa. Her theoretical framework analyzes norm construction, contestation, and evolution through multi-level governance structures spanning global institutions to local communities.
