Emily George is a part-time Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Washington and South Seattle College. She specializes in early modern drama, theater history, religious history, and textual studies, with a focus on representations of religious identity, gender, sexuality, race, and class in 16th- and 17th-century drama.
Her current book project, Stage Converts: Performing Moral and Religious Change in Early Modern English Drama, examines dramatic conversion scenes across the Reformation era. Her scholarly work appears in journals such as the Journal for Medieval and Early Modern Cultural Studies, Shakespeare Bulletin, Early Theatre, and DeConstruct, a Seattle-based collective for intersectional performance critique.
Emily’s teaching emphasizes writing pedagogy and early modern literature. Office hours are held M/W 1–3 PM by appointment via Canvas. She contributes to both the University of Washington and South Seattle College English programs, fostering interdisciplinary approaches to literature and performance.
