Bradley D. Ryner is an Associate Professor of English and Associate Dean of Graduate Initiatives at Arizona State University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on early modern drama, the history of economic thought, and questions of ontology and agency in early English texts. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware.
Education: Ph.D. in English from the University of Delaware.
Research Interests: Ryner examines 16th- and 17th-century drama through the lens of economic thought, analyzing how knowledge production and material culture intersect in early modern texts. His work explores themes like commodity fetishism, mercantile writing, and the evolution of economic discourse in drama.
Publications: He authored *Performing Economic Thought: English Drama and Mercantile Writing, 1600–1642* (2014) and co-edited *Early Modern Drama in Performance: Essays in Honor of Lois Potter* (2015). Recent articles analyze economic themes in plays by Brome, Marlowe, and Shakespeare.
Teaching: Ryner teaches courses on Shakespeare, Renaissance drama, British literature to 1700, and literary theory. His pedagogical focus includes genre studies and cultural studies approaches.
