Elizabeth Klett is a Professor of Literature at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL), affiliated with the College of Human Sciences and Humanities. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in English Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.A. in Shakespeare Studies from the Shakespeare Institute (University of Birmingham, UK), and a B.A. in English and Theatre from Drew University.
Her research and teaching focus on Shakespeare, performance studies, women's and gender studies, and cultural studies. She authored two books on Shakespeare adaptations and has published widely in journals like Theatre Journal, Shakespeare Bulletin, and Borrowers and Lenders. She also reviews Shakespeare performances for Shakespeare Bulletin.
Dr. Klett teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Shakespeare, early modern drama, modern literature, women’s literature, and film adaptation studies. She was honored as the 2013-14 Mieszkuc Professor of Women’s Studies. Beyond academia, she narrates audiobooks for LibriVox.org, covering works by Shakespeare, Jane Austen, and others.
