Dr Emily A. Winkler is a Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of Oxford, affiliated with St Edmund Hall and Hertford College, and an Associate Member of the Faculty of History. Her work bridges historical writing, political culture, and emotional history of the high Middle Ages, focusing on the British Isles, Anglo-Norman world, and North Sea zone.

Research Interests center on medieval historical thought, phenomenology of lived experience, and cross-disciplinary analysis of art/architecture/archaeology. She investigates how medieval chroniclers framed the past through diplomatic relations, border concepts, conquest narratives, and emotional frameworks. Her project 'The Search for Parity' (2019–2022) examined ruler relationships in British chronicles.
