Elsa A. Murano is Professor and Director of the Borlaug Institute at Texas A&M University's College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Food Science & Technology from Virginia Tech and oversees international development projects improving agricultural livelihoods. Her $72.3M research portfolio includes USAID/USDA-funded initiatives in Afghanistan, Africa, and Central America.
Awards include inductions into the Meat Industry Hall of Fame and Texas Woman of the Year Hall of Fame. She teaches food law and advocates for food safety policy and gender equity in agriculture.
