Dr. Megha Parajulee is a Professor in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, Lubbock, within the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences at Texas A&M University. She serves as Cotton Entomology Program Leader with expertise in cotton entomology, ecological pest management, and agricultural sustainability. Her research integrates multidisciplinary approaches to enhance crop protection and production systems.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. in Entomology from University of Wisconsin-Madison
- M.S. in Entomology from University of Wisconsin-Madison
- B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Y.S. Parmar University
Research focuses on developing sustainable pest management strategies for cotton systems, investigating ecological interactions in cropping systems, and improving production sustainability through integrated approaches. Recent work explores neonicotinoid efficacy under water stress, transgenic crop resistance, and biological control agents.
Recent publications demonstrate strong emphasis on:
- Transgenic cotton interactions with pests
- Irrigation-pest management relationships
- Novel biocontrol applications
- Resistance breeding in crops
- Ecological management strategies
- Chemical efficacy under environmental stress
Scientific honors include:
- USDA Southern Region IPM Hall of Fame Award
- Texas A&M Regents Fellow Award
- Entomological Society of America IPM Excellence Award
- Two Texas A&M Vice Chancellor's Research Awards
Has secured $4.1 million in research funding and mentored 35 graduate students. Leads the Cotton Entomology program with international collaborations in over 20 countries.
