Elliott Johnson is a Vice Chancellor's Fellow and Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work, Education & Community Wellbeing at Northumbria University. He serves on the Disability Equality Steering Group and leads the Disability, Neurodiversity, Mental Distress, and Lived Experience Expert Group. As Impact Lead for the Common Sense Policy Group, he coordinates transformative public policy research, notably the Beveridge-style Act Now platform. His work focuses on social determinants of health, particularly disability inclusion and welfare reform, emphasizing evidence-based policy and marginalized voices amplification. He has secured over £1.4m in research funding and influenced national policy through reports like The Activity Trap, addressing disability benefits disincentives.
