Dr. Elizabeth Wachira is an Associate Professor and Public Health Program Director at Texas A&M University-Commerce within the Department of Health and Human Performance. With over 15 years of experience in nursing and health education, she holds certifications as a Certificated Health Education Specialist (CHES) and is a Certified in Public Health (CPH) professional.
Her research integrates public health education with service-learning methodologies, addressing health disparities, women's health, global health challenges, and community-based interventions. She leads initiatives including the Public Health Showcase and Student Health Fair, providing experiential learning opportunities while addressing campus health needs.
Her international work includes evaluating WASH programs in Kenya and research on maternal health disparities. Wachira teaches courses in Global Health, Diversity in Health, and Emerging Trends in Public Health, emphasizing practical application and community impact.
