Dr. Elizabeth Wachira is an Associate Professor and Public Health Program Director at East Texas A&M University, affiliated with the Department of Health and Human Performance within the College of Education and Human Services. She brings over 15 years of experience in nursing and public health, integrating service-learning into her teaching to bridge theory with real-world impact. Her work empowers students to become leaders in public health through hands-on engagement and community initiatives.

Her recent work includes co-editing a groundbreaking book on maternal health disparities at the intersection of race, gender, and socioeconomics, and authoring a book chapter on disability in Sub-Saharan Africa. She has led WASH program evaluations in rural Kenya and developed innovative courses in global health, diversity, and health promotion.
