Vinita Sharma

Dr. Vinita Sharma is an Affiliate Faculty member at the School of Public and Population Health, Boise State University. She holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of South Florida, an MPH from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a Bachelor’s in Public Health from Nobel College, Nepal. Her academic journey includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Florida’s Department of Epidemiology. She is certified as a Health Education Specialist (CHES) and in Public Health (CPH).

Her research focuses on substance use, HIV, mental health, and global health interventions. Notable experiences include working with USAID’s Saath-Saath Project in Nepal, UNAIDS-Nepal, and Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS. She has led public health projects in Nepal, Israel, Ecuador, and Costa Rica, addressing post-disaster health, nutrition, and communicable diseases like COVID-19.

Dr. Sharma teaches health education and promotion, emphasizing prevention strategies. She has mentored students across undergraduate, graduate, and pre-doctoral levels in Nepal and the U.S., aiming to cultivate future public health leaders. Her work bridges community-focused research and policy, with a commitment to addressing global health inequities.
