Elisha Russ-Fishbane is Associate Professor of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University. His scholarship examines Jewish communities in the medieval Islamic world and broader medieval Jewish culture, including the intellectual legacies of Maimonides. Awarded the Salo Wittmayer Baron Book Prize for his first monograph 'Judaism, Sufism, and the Pietists of Medieval Egypt', which analyzes Abraham Maimonides and his circle.
Current research investigates aging paradigms in medieval Jewish Mediterranean communities, documented in 'Ageing in Medieval Jewish Culture'. Forthcoming work explores representations of Islam in the medieval Jewish imagination across both Islamic and Christian domains.
