Dr. Elisabeth Snead is a Professor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM), University of Saskatchewan, specializing in small animal internal medicine. She directs the Feline Radioiodine Treatment Program for hyperthyroid cats and teaches small animal nephrology and endocrinology.
Her research program focuses on feline infectious diseases, comparative prostate disease using synchrotron imaging, canine/feline obesity and diabetes, and novel treatment approaches including radioisotope therapies. She has developed techniques for measuring glomerular filtration rates in cats and intraosseous bone marrow access methods.
Recent research includes studies on dexmedetomidine effects on feline glucose homeostasis, safety evaluations of radioimmunotherapy for fungal infections, and epidemiological studies of feline blood groups. Her work utilizes advanced imaging technologies including synchrotron-based X-ray phase contrast CT for comparative prostate disease studies.
She collaborates with the U of S Prostate Research Group and One Health Imaging Group, applying veterinary models to human medical challenges.
