Elisa Francesconi is a Researcher in Contemporary Art History at the Department of Humanities, University of Catania (RTDB). She holds a PhD in History and Conservation of Art and Architectural Objects from the University of Roma Tre, where she also completed her undergraduate and postgraduate specialization in Art History and Historical-Artistic Heritage. Her academic journey includes research fellowships at Roma Tre University (2015–2020) and a post-doctoral position at Université Rennes 2 (2013–2014), as well as prior teaching roles at the University of Florence (2018–2021) and Roma Tre University (2021–2022).
Her research centers on the development of the art system and criticism from the post-World War II period to the 1960s, with a focus on neo-avant-garde languages, Italian-American artistic exchanges, and the history of private art galleries. She also investigates art cinema, contemporary art photography, and photographic archives, with recent scholarly interest in art forgery. She is co-founder and vice-president of the Mario Carbone and Elisa Magri Archive in Rome and collaborates with the cultural association La Salerniana to promote contemporary art in Sicily.
She obtained national scientific qualification for second-level teaching in 2018, enabling her to teach at the associate professor level.
