Elias Mossialos

Professor Elias Mossialos holds the Cheng Yu Tung Chair in Global Health and directs LSE Health at the London School of Economics. As founder and former head of the Department of Health Policy, his research focuses on healthcare financing, pharmaceutical policies, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and cancer care. He co-founded the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies and advises governments worldwide on health system reforms. His work has earned prestigious awards like the Andrija Stampar Medal and the Helen-Clark-JoPPP Award.

His academic contributions include over 300 publications and influential frameworks such as the Options Market for Antibiotics. He has served in Greece's parliament and ministry, shaping national health policies. Internationally, he advises the WHO, EU institutions, and governments in countries like China and Singapore on pandemic responses and health system sustainability.

Educational leadership includes establishing MSc programs in International Health Policy, Health Economics, and Global Health. His teaching emphasizes financing healthcare systems, with current courses like HP400 Financing Health Care.
