Gunnar Ljungqvist

Gunnar Ljungqvist is a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE) and a medical doctor with dual expertise in health policy research and clinical practice. He holds a Medical Degree from King’s College London and an MSc in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing jointly awarded by LSE and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

His research focuses on health security policies, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR), pharmaceutical policy, and access and benefit-sharing frameworks. As a General Practitioner in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), he bridges clinical practice with academic research to inform healthcare access and policy development.

Key areas of investigation include the intersection of healthcare access with global health security, the governance of pharmaceutical policies, and strategies to combat AMR through multi-sectoral collaboration. His work emphasizes evidence-based approaches to strengthen health systems and equitable policy design.
