Elias Klemperer is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Vermont, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Psychological Science. His research focuses on tobacco regulatory science, interventions for smoking cessation, nicotine reduction strategies, and opioid use disorder treatment among incarcerated populations. He leads the pilot project program at the Vermont Center on Behavior and Health (VCBH) and co-directs education initiatives at the UVM Center on Rural Addiction. Klemperer holds a B.A. from Lewis & Clark College (2011) and a Ph.D. from the University of Vermont (2019). His work employs methodologies including randomized clinical trials, meta-analyses, and naturalistic studies. He mentors clinical psychology trainees and advises on dissertation committees. Key research interests include dual use of cigarettes/e-cigarettes, addiction treatment in correctional settings, and policy implications of nicotine products.
