Stacey Sigmon

Stacey Sigmon is a Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Vermont (UVM), affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Psychological Science. She leads the Chittenden Clinic: Opioid Treatment Program and directs the UVM Center on Rural Addictions (CORA). She is also faculty at the Vermont Center on Behavior and Health (VCBH) and involved in VCBH Training Programs in Behavioral Pharmacology of Drug Dependence and Tobacco Regulatory Science.

Dr. Sigmon earned a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1995), an M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology from UVM (1999, 2002), followed by a NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on behavioral and pharmacological treatments for opioid dependence, novel drug formulations, smoking cessation among opioid-dependent patients, and laboratory models of stimulant medications.

Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to addiction, particularly in rural populations. Recent studies include randomized trials on reduced nicotine cigarettes, technology-assisted buprenorphine treatment, and interventions addressing food insecurity in OUD patients. Her articles highlight advancements in OUD management, dual-use behaviors, and policy implications for substance use interventions.
