Eivind Smith is an Ordinary Member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (elected 1995) and a Professor of Public Law at the University of Oslo since 1986. He directs the Research Group on Constitutional (Norwegian and Comparative) Studies, focusing on the intersection of public and private law, including procedural and substantive administrative law, governance structures, and the political role of constitutions. His work emphasizes the relationship between law and democracy, judicial review of legislation, and constitutional cultures.
