معرفی
Edith Cassel is a Senior Lecturer Emerita in the Department of Physics at Cornell University. She has held academic roles including Senior Lecturer (1992-2009) and Lecturer (1978-1992), with prior research positions as a Research Associate in Nuclear Science/Engineering (1974-1978) and Physics (1967-1971). She directed Cornell's Abroad Program at the University of Hamburg (1986/1987).
- Education: Ph.D. in Physics (1966), Diplom (Masters, 1963), and Vordiplom (1960) from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
Her research interests span nuclear physics (nuclear spectroscopy, polonium isotopes), cosmic ray detection, and the physics of musical sound. She taught courses such as Phys 204 (Physics of Musical Sound) and Phys 310 (Intermediate Experimental Physics).
Her publications include studies on polonium isomers, alpha-decay mechanisms, and cosmic ray detection technologies. Notably, she conducted thesis research at CERN (1964-1966).
Her career reflects extensive contributions to both teaching and experimental physics research in multidisciplinary areas involving nuclear science and applied physics education.
