Ebru Kaya is a Professor of Science Education at Bogazici University, Turkey, and an Honorary Research Fellow at Oxford University's Department of Education since 2019. She holds a PhD from Middle East Technical University (2011) and has conducted visiting research at institutions including the University of Oxford (2022-2023, funded by TUBITAK) and National Taiwan Normal University (2016-2017).
Her research focuses on argumentation in science education, nature of science (NOS) integration into curricula, and science teacher education. She has led multiple research projects funded by Bogazici University, TUBITAK, and NARST, addressing topics like NOS in teacher training and science textbook analysis. Dr. Kaya has authored/co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles and a Springer-published book on chemistry teacher education.
Notable awards include the Young Scientist Award (Science Academy, 2015; TUBITAK, 2017) and the EASE Outstanding Paper Award (2016). She has served on international committees such as ESERA’s Nature of Science Strand (2018-2022) and contributed to teacher development programs in Turkey, Rwanda, Lebanon, and Taiwan.
