Dr. Douglas Tomlinson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Engineering. He holds a PhD and BSc in Civil Engineering from Queen's University, focusing on precast concrete structures and fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP). His research emphasizes reinforced concrete, composite materials, and structural connections, with affiliations to the Steel Centre and Masonry Centre at UAlberta.

Teaching: Courses include Structural Analysis (CivE 372), Reinforced Concrete Design (CivE 474), and Prestressed Concrete (CivE 674). He advises the Queen's Concrete Canoe team and has mentored engineering students.
Labs & Groups: Active in the Tomlinson Research Group, focusing on sustainable materials and structural innovation. Collaborates with the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and edits the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering.
