Dorothy Duensing serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Voice at Wayne State University in Detroit since 2012 (previously 1999-2007), while also holding faculty positions at Detroit Opera House through Michigan Opera Theatre's Education Department and directing DTE Singers since 2011. She concurrently serves as Choir Director, Organist & Pianist for St. George's Episcopal Church in Milford.
Her academic credentials include a Master of Music from the University of Michigan and Bachelor of Music from Indiana University, supplemented by State of Michigan Professional Teacher Certifications (K-12 Vocal Music and 7-12 Speech), Orff Schulwerk Music Teaching Certifications (Levels 1-3), and a Basic Diploma in Music Ministry with Pipe Organ studies from Sacred Heart Major Seminary.
Ms. Duensing's expertise centers on Vocal Performance and Opera, with significant contributions to Music Education through Orff Schulwerk methodology and Church Music. Her distinguished performance career features leading mezzo-soprano roles in productions like Carmen and collaborations with major orchestras including the Detroit Symphony and Rochester Symphony, demonstrating artistic excellence that has brought audiences "spontaneously to their feet."
