Robert Bracey is a Professor of Voice at the University of North Carolina Greensboro's School of Music. Previously, he served as Chair of the Voice Area at Michigan State University and taught at Bowling Green State University. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) and Master of Music (MM) from the University of Michigan, along with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Michigan State University.
His performance career includes soloist engagements with renowned orchestras such as the Detroit Symphony, Kennedy Center, Symphony Orchestra of India, and Telemann Chamber Orchestra. Notable awards include first place in the Oratorio Society of New York’s International Solo Competition and Metropolitan Opera Auditions Regional Finalist status.
Dr. Bracey has dedicated over 40 years to music education, training students who have pursued professional careers in opera (e.g., New York City Opera, Salzburg State Theatre) and academia. His pedagogical impact extends to music educators nationwide, many of whom hold teaching positions across the U.S.
Key honors include the Jessye Norman Award, Rose Marie Jun Voice Award, and multiple teaching recognitions. His teaching spans undergraduate and graduate voice instruction, emphasizing both performance excellence and educational mentorship.
