Dorothy Bland is a Professor at the Mayborn School of Journalism, University of North Texas (UNT), where she joined the faculty in 2013. With over 25 years of media experience, she has served as a reporter, editor, media/marketing consultant, and publisher. She previously held administrative and teaching roles at Florida A&M University and has extensive experience leading journalism programs.

Her research focuses on media management, leadership, marketing, digital/social media, and diversity in journalism. Her publications span outlets such as USA Today and The Journal of Social Media and Society, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement with journalism, media studies, and leadership theory.
