Professor Dominic Malcolm is a Professor of Sociology of Sport at Loughborough University’s School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences. He holds roles as Deputy Theme Lead for Sport, Business and Society and Deputy Director of Doctoral Programmes. His research focuses on the sociocultural dimensions of sport, particularly concussion, health promotion, and the intersection of sport with business and public policy.

- Affiliations: NIHR Diet, Lifestyle and Physical Activity Biomedical Research Unit.
His work explores the social roots of contemporary issues like the concussion crisis, medicalization of sport, and neoliberal influences on health policies. He has authored influential books such as The Concussion Crisis in Sport and edited volumes on sport sociology and cricket’s global development.
Research interests span interdisciplinary approaches to sport-related health, ethical dimensions of sports medicine, and the cultural significance of sports like cricket and rugby. His recent studies address concussion management in universities, pulmonary rehabilitation in diverse contexts, and the sociopolitical dynamics of sport.
