James King is a Research Professor in Clinical Exercise Science at Loughborough University, within the School of Sport, Exercise & Health Sciences. His research focuses on the role of lifestyle factors, particularly exercise and diet, in managing obesity and related metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity-related liver disease. He holds a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science (2007) and a PhD in Exercise Physiology (2010), both from Loughborough University.
Research interests include the neuroendocrine regulation of appetite, energy balance, and the application of exercise interventions to improve metabolic health. His work contributes to understanding how lifestyle modifications can prevent and manage chronic metabolic conditions.
James has been recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His post-doctoral work at Loughborough contributed to securing a National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Unit focused on Diet, Lifestyle & Physical Activity. He previously served as a Senior Research Associate, investigating exercise's role in chronic metabolic diseases.
