Djamel Chikh is an Associate Professor in Political Philosophy at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ottawa. He holds a Ph.D. from the School of Political Studies (University of Ottawa, 2018) and a Doctorate in Political Science from the University of Paris-Saclay (2017). His research focuses on language regimes, citizenship, and democracy in North Africa and Algeria, with particular attention to Francophone contexts and conflict studies.

Research interests include the intersection of language policies and political identity in postcolonial states, African political systems, and citizenship frameworks in Algeria. He is a research associate at the Chaire de recherche sur la francophonie et les politiques publiques.
Teaching courses include Political Philosophy, Methodologies of Dialogue, and Introduction to Philosophy. His work bridges political theory with empirical studies of North African governance and linguistic dynamics.
