Anne Mévellec is a Full Professor in the School of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa, specializing in urban politics, political sociology, public policy, and local governance. She is actively involved in multiple research centers and leads the Urban and Territorial Governance axis at the Centre d'étude en gouvernance.

Her research centers on municipal governance, the sociology of elected officials, institutional reforms, land use planning, and municipal political parties. She has extensively studied the professionalization of local politics in Quebec and the role of mayors in supramunicipal governance. Her work also explores public participation in urban planning, emotional discourse in environmental debates, and linguistic regimes in Francophone Ontario.
Recent publications (2020–2024) show a strong focus on territorial governance, municipal democracy, and Canadian Francophonie, with interdisciplinary contributions to political science, sociology, geography, and public administration. She frequently publishes in leading French-language Canadian journals such as Politique et Sociétés and Géographie, Économie, Société.
Anne Mévellec has received SSHRC funding for her research on governance in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. She currently supervises two graduate students: Christina Bouchard and Veika Bedia Donatien. She teaches core courses in public policy analysis and is involved in mentoring the next generation of political scientists.
