Dirk Bergemann is the Douglass and Marion Campbell Professor of Economics at Yale University, with secondary appointments as Professor of Computer Science (School of Engineering) and Professor of Finance (School of Management). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (1994). His research focuses on game theory, contract theory, market design, and information design, with recent work on dynamic mechanisms and pricing. He is affiliated with the Cowles Foundation for Research in Economics and has served as Department Chair (2013–2019) and Co-Editor of Econometrica (2014–2018).
His research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and German National Science Foundation. Key contributions include foundational work on robust mechanism design, auction theory, and strategic information design. He currently co-edits the American Economic Review: Insights.
