Dr. Diane Hiebert-Murphy is a Professor at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Social Work. She holds a PhD (1995), MA (1987), and BSW (1982) from the University of Manitoba.
Her research program focuses on family violence and family-centered practice, with particular emphasis on intimate partner violence and child protection systems. She currently co-investigates a SSHRC-funded study examining power dynamics in relationships with a history of violence, and leads 'The Couples Project' which provides therapeutic interventions for couples affected by intimate partner violence.
Dr. Hiebert-Murphy's work explores how power operates within post-violence relationships and develops evidence-based interventions for couples seeking to establish abuse-free relationships. Her research informs both clinical practice and child welfare policy development.
