Devan Mescall is a Professor and Edwards Enhancement Chair in Business at the Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo and is a Chartered Accountant (CICA). His research focuses on multinational taxation, corporate governance, AI implementation in business, and financial leadership in higher education. He previously served as the University of Saskatchewan's inaugural Chief Financial Officer, overseeing a $1B+ budget and establishing the Office of Strategic Finance.
Dr. Mescall's research has been published in top journals like The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Harvard Business Review. His work has influenced tax authorities globally and earned a Contemporary Accounting Research Top Cited Paper Award. He serves on editorial boards for Contemporary Accounting Research and the Journal of the American Taxation Association.
His teaching includes undergraduate courses on Canadian taxation (COMM 406, COMM 407) and graduate courses in taxation and research methodology (MPAcc 816, MPAcc 992). Research tools developed include the Klassen-Lisowsky-Mescall Transfer Pricing Survey Instrument.
