Derek Schipper is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Organic Material Synthesis in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Waterloo. His research develops novel organic materials and catalytic systems with applications in electronics, sensing, and nanotechnology.
Current investigations focus on carbon nanotube alignment strategies, transition-metal catalysis for polymerization, and chalcogen bonding in conjugated materials. Recent work explores solvent effects on charge transfer states and supramolecular host systems for curved carbon nanostructures.
