Michal Kruk is a Professor of Chemistry at the College of Staten Island (CSI) and the CUNY Graduate Center since 2005. Prior roles include Visiting Assistant Professor at Carnegie Mellon University (2003–2005) and postdoctoral/graduate positions at Kent State University. His research focuses on nanoporous materials synthesis, polymerization-driven nanostructuring, and applications in catalysis/sensing. Kruk holds an M.S. from Maria Curie-Sklodowska University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Kent State University.
Research Interests: Synthesis of ordered nanoporous materials via surfactant templating, development of mesoporous silica nanotubes, characterization methods for pore properties, and functionalization for CO₂ adsorption/catalysis. Key innovations include temperature-dependent micelle templating and bridged-organosilica frameworks.
Publications (selected 15): Focus on mesoporous silica structures, Pluronic surfactant systems, and nanotube fabrication. Recent work explores hollow nanostructures and thermal stability of closed-pore materials.
Affiliations: CSI Chemistry Department, CUNY Graduate Center. Active in material science and nanotechnology research with over 100 peer-reviewed articles.
