Dennis Dunleavy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at Benedictine College, where he has taught since 2011. His teaching includes visual communication, digital photography, signs and symbols, and new media.
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Communication and Society from the University of Oregon (2004)
- Master of Arts and Letters in English from Southern Oregon University
- Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Southern Oregon University
Dunleavy's research focuses on visual communication, particularly visual semiotics and the history of photography. His work explores the intersection of visual culture, photojournalism, and new media. He has contributed to the academic discourse through publications in the Handbook of Visual Communication and as a contributing editor for Visual Communication Quarterly.
