Deepta Bhattacharya

Deepta Bhattacharya, PhD, is a full Professor at the University of Arizona in the Department of Immunobiology, with secondary appointments in Surgery, the BIO5 Institute, and the Genetics Graduate Interdisciplinary Program (GIDP). He holds a BS from Indiana University and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied NF-κB in B cell biology. His postdoctoral work at Stanford University focused on hematopoietic stem cell biology.

Research Interests: Dr. Bhattacharya’s lab investigates stem cell biology and antibody responses to infections and vaccines, with a focus on humoral immunity longevity, B cell dynamics, and metabolic regulation in plasma cells. His work bridges immunology, genetics, and cell metabolism, including studies on xenogeneic transplantation barriers and autoantibodies in cancer.

Key Publications: Recent articles highlight stem cell engineering (2024), immune responses in severe COVID-19 (2023), ethical virology discourse (2023), and metabolic pathways in myelopoiesis (2023). Earlier works (2022–2018) explore topics like plasma cell survival mechanisms, BMF-1 in chronic infections, and autoantibodies in oncology.
