معرفی
Michael S Kuhns, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Immunobiology at the University of Arizona, with additional affiliations to the BIO5 Institute and Genetics Graduate Interdisciplinary Program (GIDP). He earned his BS at the University of Arizona and PhD at UC Berkeley under James Allison, followed by postdoctoral work with Mark Davis at Stanford University.
Research Focus: The Kuhns Lab investigates molecular mechanisms of T cell receptor (TCR) activation, emphasizing
- TCR-CD3 and CD4 coreceptor interactions
- MHC-restricted antigen recognition
- Signal transduction in immune responses
- Impact of aging on T cell function
- Engineering bionsensors for immunotherapy
Article Trends: His publications bridge structural immunology, signal transduction, and therapeutic engineering. Key subfields include TCR macrocomplex architecture, LCK-independent signaling pathways, CAR design for antigen-specific T cell elimination, aging-related immune defects, and domain-swapped TCR engineering for gene therapy safety.
Lab & Collaborations: The Kuhns Lab (Medical Research Building, Tucson) explores T cell molecular machines in vaccine responses, tumor immunity, and autoimmune prevention using mouse models and live-cell imaging. His team includes graduate students and research technicians.
