Deborah Vanderlinde is an Associate Professor of Music at Oakland University, where she holds multiple leadership roles: Interim Director of the School of Music, Theatre and Dance, Chair of the Department of Music, and Coordinator of Graduate Music Education. She teaches undergraduate courses in educational psychology, elementary/secondary methods, and choral methods while coordinating the undergraduate music education program and supervising student teachers. At the graduate level, she advises research students, teaches educational psychology and doctoral seminars, and leads summer courses.
Research Focus: Her scholarship centers on applying constructivist theory to music pedagogy, with emphasis on:
- Adaptive strategies for learners with exceptionalities
- Development of inclusive musical resources
- Teacher education methodologies
- Music listening cognition
Academic Leadership: As Interim Director and Department Chair, she oversees curricular and administrative functions for music programs. Her graduate coordination includes designing research curricula and advising thesis projects.
