Deborah Dobson

Deborah Dobson serves as an Associate Professor and Director of Field and Clinical at the University of the Cumberlands, where she has worked since 2013 after transitioning from a 20-year career in P-12 education. In this role, she manages all field hour placements and student teacher placements for the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program while collaborating extensively with clinical educators across regional school districts.

Her expertise centers on teacher preparation systems and clinical practice implementation, with specialized focus on secondary English education pathways. Drawing from her background teaching English IV at Clay County High School (1997-2013), she designs practical training frameworks that bridge theoretical coursework with classroom application for MAT candidates.

A Cumberland College alumna (1975), she maintains deep institutional commitment through her operational leadership in clinical education. Her campus presence extends beyond administrative duties as she actively engages with the university's evolving physical landscape and community ethos.
