Deborah Manson serves as a tutor for the Future Creatives program at University of the Arts London (UAL), where she nurtures creativity in children and teenagers through art and design workshops. An alumna of Central St Martins (UAL), she returned to her alma mater after qualifying as a teacher in 2004.
Her educational background includes studying Illustration at Central St Martins. Manson's artistic practice centers on experimental textile work using natural dyes, where she cultivates and processes dye plants to create textiles, drawings, collages, and prints. She explores the interplay of materials, colour, shape, and spatial relationships, reflecting her deep interest in the convergence of art, design, and craft disciplines.
Manson draws significant inspiration from Agnes Martin's spiritually resonant paintings, which she describes as "spellbinding" after viewing a Tate exhibition. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes observational depth, advising budding creatives to "Keep Looking, look again, look deeper." As part of UAL's Future Creatives initiative, she facilitates workshops for ages 7-17, developing foundational creative skills in young participants through structured art and design activities.
